Meet Our Director and Head Coach – Kristin Steele
Kristin Steele is a distinguished figure in the world of volleyball, bringing over 25 years of coaching experience at the Junior College (JC) and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) levels. Her coaching career is marked by a commendable 526-311 (.628) record, punctuated by seven national tournament appearances.
Currently, Kristin serves as the head coach of the OUAZ women’s program, where she has successfully led the team to a 70-57 (.551) record over five seasons. Her leadership has been instrumental in securing the program’s first-ever conference championship and its inaugural trip to the NAIA National Championship.
Kristin’s coaching prowess has been recognized with numerous accolades, including the Heart of America Coach of the Year (2011, 2012, 2013, 2015), and the GSAC Coach of the Year (2021). Notably, she was also honored as the NCCAA West Region Coach of the Year in both 2021 and 2022, a testament to her consistent excellence and commitment to her teams.
Before her successful tenure at OUAZ, Kristin was the head coach at MidAmerica Nazarene University for seven seasons, and at Redlands College in Oklahoma, where she initiated the program in 1997.
As a former player at the University of Central Oklahoma, Kristin was a 4-year starting middle blocker, an all-conference athlete, and a first-team all-conference honoree. She continues to hold several playing records at her alma mater and was inducted into the Broncho Athletic Hall of Fame in 2008.

Welcome to the Kristin Steele Volleyball Camp, a premier volleyball training experience set to take place at the impressive Faith Arena, located on the Ottawa University Arizona Campus. This state-of-the-art facility serves as the home for OUAZ basketball and volleyball, providing an exceptional environment for athletes to train, compete, and grow.
Faith Arena, which opened its doors in November 2019, stands as a testament to the commitment of Ottawa University to provide top-tier athletic facilities. It is recognized as one of the finest facilities of its kind in the west valley of Phoenix, offering a unique blend of functionality, aesthetics, and advanced technology.
Covering a sprawling 30,000 square feet, the arena boasts a hardwood maple surface that is both expansive and versatile. The main court is adorned with a custom paint scheme that beautifully incorporates the nearby White Tank Mountains, creating a visually stunning backdrop for every game and training session. The arena’s design allows for conversion into four full-sized, 94-foot basketball courts, complete with a total of 14 baskets. For volleyball enthusiasts, Faith Arena offers nine volleyball courts, with the flexibility to accommodate up to five competition setups.
When it comes to hosting events, Faith Arena is second to none. The court features bleacher seating capable of accommodating 1,000 fans, including 306 bleacher-back seats, ensuring every spectator enjoys a comfortable viewing experience. Adding to the excitement of each game is the state-of-the-art Daktronics video board. This fully customizable feature enhances the spectator experience by displaying scores, live statistics, live video and replays, sponsor advertisements, and much more.
To complement the high-intensity action on the court, Faith Arena is equipped with an LED lighting system. Additionally, it features a theater/stage lighting system and a specially designed audio system, creating an immersive atmosphere for both athletes and spectators.
As you enter Faith Arena, you are greeted by a spacious lobby that houses ticket booths, a concession stand, and multiple restrooms, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience for all visitors. The lobby serves as a welcoming gateway to the excitement and energy that lies within the arena.
